At least 24 people, including a one-year-old child, were killed and hundreds were feared trapped following landslides amid heavy rain in Chooralmala and Mundakkayi in Kerala’s Wayanad early on Tuesday.
Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said all government agencies have joined the rescue operations and that multiple ministers have left for Wayanad to coordinate them.
In his X post, PM Modi said,
“The Prime Minister has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased in the landslides in parts of Wayanad. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000”.
