Bollywood actor Manoj Kumar death dies in Mumbai. Veteran Indian actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar, renowned for his patriotic-themed movies and fondly referred to as ‘Bharat Kumar,’ has passed away at the age of 87. He breathed his last at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.
His moral remains will be kept at his Juhu residence from Friday afternoon so that industry colleagues and fans can pay final respects. Cremation will most likely take place on Saturday.
Manoj Kumar’s films earned him the moniker ‘Bharat Kumar’. He was known for his patriotic films. Some of his hit films include Purab Aur Paschim, Kranti and Roti, and Kapada Aur Makaan, among others.
He was the recipient of a National Film Award and seven Filmfare awards.
Kumar was born as Harikrishnan Giri Goswami in 1937 in Abbottabad, which is now in Pakistan. Abbottabad is a small town in the North-West Frontier Province, British India (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan). He and his family shifted to Delhi during the Partition. He made his Bollywood debut in 1957 with the film, Fashion. But, it was his film Kanchi Ki Gudiya, that got him his first break in the industry.
