Union Minister Smriti Irani to chair Zonal Conference of States/UTs of Western region today
Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani will chair Zonal Conference of States and Union Territories and stakeholders of Western region in Mumbai tomorrow. The conference aims to sensitize State Governments and UT Administrations to facilitate proper implementation of the Umbrella Schemes of Mission Poshan 2.0, Mission Shakti and Mission Vatsalya over the next 5 years.
In order to ensure optimum impact of recently launched Missions, the Centre has initiated a series of zonal consultations with state governments in each region of the country. The meeting in Mumbai is the fourth in the series in which Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu will participate.
Empowerment and protection of women and children who constitute 67.7 percent of India’s population and ensuring their wholesome development in a safe and secure environment is crucial for the sustainable and equitable development of the country. The Centre has recently approved these schemes to achieve this objective.
