Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Gujarat’s Kutch and Jakhau Port today, June 17, to take stock of the situation in areas affected by cyclone ‘Biparjoy’. After an aerial inspection of the cyclone-affected areas of Kutch, he will also meet the affected people in Bhachau and Mandvi of the Kutch district. He will also hold a meeting and review the situation with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and senior officers.
Meanwhile, North Gujarat, Kutch, and Saurashtra are witnessing heavy rains since early morning today. Light to moderate rain is predicted in several parts of Gujarat from today to the 20th of June. Heavy to very heavy rains are very likely in a few places with isolated extremely heavy falls in Kutch, Banaskantha, and Patan. Many places have been flooded due to torrential rain in Anjar of Kutch. According to IMD, it is very likely to move east-northeastwards and weaken into a depression during the next 06 hours. Thereafter, it is very likely to continue to move east-northeastwards and maintain the intensity of depression during the subsequent 18 hours.
