Odisha triple train accident crash happened near the Bahanaga Baazar station in Balasore district, about 250 km south of Kolkata and 170 km north of Bhubaneswar, killing at least 288 people on Friday and prompting the Railway Ministry to order a probe. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced an ex-gratia compensation of Rs 10 lakh in case of death of accident victims and Rs 2 lakh for those with grievous injuries. Those with minor injuries will receive a compensation of Rs 50,000. The minister has also ordered a high-level probe to find out the cause behind the accident. “It is important to get to the root cause,” he said.
