External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar today, December 1, highlighted that India must become the voice of the Global South expressing their concerns on fuel, food, and fertilisers. He added that New Delhi shares the apprehension that sustainable development, climate action, and climate justice could be side tracked due to more dominant issues.
The Minister stated this while speaking at the University Connect Programme in New Delhi today. He said that India’s G20 Presidency is taking place at a very critical moment in international affairs. He added that it is particularly vital that world leaders focus on the right issues, especially those that affect the more vulnerable sections of the world. The Minister further said, during its G20 Presidency, India will spotlight LiFE, with its associated, environmentally sustainable and responsible choices at the level of individual lifestyles as well as national development. He also said, as the mother of democracy, India’s G20 Presidency will be consultative, collaborative, and decisive.
