Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI has recorded statement of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi Excise Policy case. Mr. Kejriwal appeared before CBI at its headquarters in New Delhi yesterday. In a statement, the CBI said that Mr. Kejriwal joined the investigation and his statement has been recorded. The agency further said the statement will be verified and collated with the available evidence.
The agency said that after investigation, one charge-sheet has been filed by CBI in November last year against CEO of a Mumbai-based firm and six other accused persons and further investigation is being carried out. It said, the Chief Minister of Delhi, was issued a notice for his examination in this case and answering various questions related to the case.
Earlier, the investigating agency had issued summons to Mr. Kejriwal for questioning in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy for 2021-22.
The CBI had registered a case against the then Deputy Chief Minister and Minister In-charge of Excise, Delhi, and 14 others for an investigation into the allegations of irregularities in framing and implementation of the Excise Policy and extending post tender benefits to private persons.
