Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said, the BJP government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made concerted efforts to ensure the welfare of other backward classes (OBCs) in the country. Addressing the National Convention of Modi Community in Ahmedabad, Mr. Shah said, it is the BJP government that introduced reservation for backward classes in institutes like Kendriya Vidyalaya, Navodaya as well as in NEET exams and gave constitutional status to OBC Commission.
Mr. Shah said, the BJP has given the country the first Prime Minister from the OBC community. The Minister added that the under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the central government has ensured the direct Benefit transfer to the beneficiaries of for more than 300 welfare schemes. Mr. Shah said, the government has provided gas connections, affordable homes, electricity-free medical treatment and free ration to the poors in the country. He also mentioned about several steps taken by the BJP government for poors during Covid pandemic.
