Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high level meeting to review the relief operations in the Morbi Bridge collapse incident at Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. He was briefed about the rescue and relief operations that have been underway after the mishap on Sunday evening. The Prime Minister emphasised on ensuring that those affected get all possible assistance.
The meeting was attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi, the Chief Secretary and DGP of Gujarat. Meanwhile, the police have arrested nine people in connection with the tragedy. Rajkot Range IG Ashok Kumar Yadav told the media that the arrested include two persons from the management of the company that repaired the bridge, ticket collectors, and bridge repair contractors among others. Police informed that the investigation is being carried out by a Special Investigation Team.
