PM Narendra Modi meets Donald Trump, says India-US working for future of Asia
On the sidelines of the 31st ASEAN Summit being held in Manila, Philippines, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Monday hold bilateral meetings with US President Donald Trump and also Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte. The prime minister will also meet some of the other world leaders who are participating in the East Asia summit in Manila.

He also visited the International Rice Research Institute and Mahaveer Philippines Foundation. Thereafter, he is also scheduled to address the ASEAN Bussiness and Investment Summit and will also attend a Community Reception.

On Sunday, Modi arrived in Manila on a three-day visit to attend the ASEAN -India and East Asia summits. The ASEAN region, including India, comprises a combined population of 1.85 billion people, one-fourth of the global population.

Modi and Trump met informally on Sunday evening before a dinner hosted by the Philippines President for leaders ahead of the ASEAN summit. The two leaders are meeting just months after PM Modi’s visit to the US. Currently, bilateral meeting is in progress between the two leaders. New Delhi is going to Monday’s bilateral meeting with the expectation that Trump, who had warned Islamabad of consequences if it continues to support terror groups while announcing his Afghan and South Asia policy in August, will “walk the talk”.

PM Modi on meeting with US President Donald Trump, said that the relations between the two nations are growing and that the two countries are working for future interests of Asia and humanity.
