Vikas Barala, his friend appear before police for questioning in Chandigarh Stalking Case
The main accused in the Chandigarh stalking case, Vikas Barala, the son of Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala, was on Wednesday arrested by the Chandigarh police after questioning. After being summoned in the case, Vikas appeared before the police in the afternoon amid tight security.

However, the interrogation is still underway and the accused may be detained by evening. The second accused, Vikas`s friend, was also present for the interrogation.

The police have added Section 365 with Section 511 (attempt to abduct with intent to wrongful confinement) of IPC to the case.

There was heavy security at the Sector 26 police station in Chandigarh where Vikas presented himself. Earlier, when Vikas failed to appear, his father, Haryana BJP president Subhash Barala, said "he will fully cooperate" in any investigation.

Vikas is accused of stalking and attempting to abduct a senior IAS officer’s daughter, Varnika Kundu. Addressing a press conference minutes before his son reached the police station, Subhash told reporters that police should take appropriate action against Vikas if he is named in the FIR.

Police said on Wednesday that Vikas and his friend "refused to give" their blood and urine samples after the alleged incident Friday night. "Such refusal will be held against them in the investigation and trial," said Tajender Luthra, Chandigarh director general of police.
