US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said he urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to continue diplomatic negotiations with Iran over its nuclear programme.
The meeting marked the seventh interaction between the two leaders since Trump returned to office. They held closed-door talks for nearly three hours, which Trump later described as a “very good meeting.”
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that while no definitive outcome was reached, he encouraged sustained engagement with Tehran to explore the possibility of a deal. He said he conveyed to Netanyahu that a negotiated agreement with Iran would be his preferred outcome.
“If it can be consummated, that will be a preference. If it cannot, we will just have to see what the outcome will be,” Trump wrote. The US President also cautioned Iran against rejecting diplomatic efforts again.
