The Rajya Sabha has resumed the discussion on the 150th Anniversary of the National Song Vande Mataram. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had initiated the discussion on Vande Mataram yesterday.
Participating in the discussion, Jairam Ramesh of Congress, alleged that this discussion on Vande Mataram was aimed at discrediting Jawaharlal Nehru. He said, in every session of Congress, this national song was recited.
Sandosh Kumar of CPI said that the song Vande Mataram was inspirational for thousands of freedom fighters and leaders like Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, and Khudiram Bose. He said it is in the soul of the nation and still inspires everyone. Debashish Samantaray of BJD said, the Vande Mataram song was the voice to free India. The discussion is underway.
